Travel Pakistan - yay!

Posted by Ramla Akhtar on 05 March 2005

The spunky Pakistan Travel Web is back up again! I mean I thought it had gone the way of the many neglected Pakistani websites... lost in Internet's never-ever-land!

This site gives you a peek into the many kinds of adventures you can undertake in Pakistan - be that trekking, water sports, safaris, skiing, or even shopping!! It's got loads of articles & photos (thank God they aren't tired-looking like PIA brochures!) that can keep the adventurer in you glued to the site. Most of all, I love the apple green color scheme... tangy!

This site could do no wrong for the aspiring traveler in Pakistan, except that it's so good at times that you might compromise on the real travel bit and get satisfied with a vicarious journey. Don't do that, and get that travel bag packing. *Thumbs up!*

Hina. Yes it's true that there is always a room for improvement but I really hate mediocrity. If you click on a link at the bottom of the page it will lead you to another web site Pak Avenue. I was really disappointed to see that Pakistan Travel Web's design is exaclty the replica of Pak Avenue .

When you start on design project you ask some rudimentary questions:
a) who is your target audience
b) what do you want out of this project
C) How do you intent to achive that

Then you proceed and you can go in several directions. As a designer yourself you will agree that are many ways of saying the same thing but it all depends what you want in the end.

In a gist a travel website about pakistan should contains dominating images about pakistan on its front page clad in a good layout and colour scheme. I really cannot explain in words what I really mean .

I live and breathe design / advertising and after practising several years in the Pakistani and Australian industry... I have come to a conclusion that you you remain a student of design for life and every morning you see the dawn in a different light.

Please do send me your suggestions on how you can improve this site.

The website looks good but I have my reservations about the colour scheme and layout. I believe the web design could have been much better...but its a good effort. I am a designer and if you need any help I can certainly guide you.

Ah! Don't we love the color! I also like the crispness of the articles. For once, a website with clear-cut practical information. And yeah, a long time ago, I sent a request for info on a trip to Deosai - and yes, I was contacted back with info. Now isn't that something that most websites simply miss in this neck of the woods? Truly admirable job! P.S. Perhaps the articles and essay need an update.

I thought I was the only one in love with the website's cool colour scheme. I've been marketing the website for free, and I have successfuly persuaded so many of my online friends to visit Pakistan! *grins*
