Seedless orange variety developed by Pakistani institute

Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB) has reared a nursery of seedless kinno and started its sale on commercial basis, said Dr Kausar Abdullah Malik, member Administration and Biosciences, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).

He visited the nursery at NIAB here Saturday and lauded the efforts of PAEC scientists, observing that Pakistan could earn vital foreign exchange by exporting seedless kinno to international markets. He asked the Director NIAB to make necessary arrangements for extensive sale of its saplings.

Dr Mohsin Iqbal, Director NIAB, disclosed that over a 1000 saplings of the seedless kinno have been raised, which are being sold at the rate of Rs 100 per sapling. He said NIAB is in a position to raise sufficient quantity of saplings to cater to the needs of local kinno growers…
