German Woodwind Ensemble Enthralls Lahoris

The Annemarie-Schimmel-Haus, a non government organisation, in collaboration with Goethe- Institute in Karachi and the Lahore Arts Council organised a concert titled ‘Woodwind Chamber Music Concert’ at the Cultural Complex on Friday. Orsolino Quintet, a musicians’ band comprising Walter Auer, Anne Marckardt, Jochen Tschabrun, Jan Wessely and Marion Reinhard, performed in the concert.

Orsolino Quintet, the band, clinched third position in 1997 in an international music competition in Munich and in 2000 they won the Chamber Music prize in the German Music Competition in Bonn. The quintet has participated in a several European festivals and two of its CD’s are very popular in Germany. The band’s musicians are also members of other German orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, the Radio Symphony Orchestra Frankfrut, the SWR Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart and the NDR Radio-Philharmonic Orchestra in Hanover. At the concert they presented pieces of art by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Franz Danzi, Gyorgy Ligeti and Paul Hindemith…
