Beyond Music: Pakistani Playing The Pipes of Peace in India

Music beyond borders is passe. Now it’s time to take things beyond music. Grammy-nominated sitarist Shujaat Husain Khan and Pakistani-American writer-poet Aneela Khalid Arshed are ready to bring out their first joint album Beyond Music which hopes to touch people with its inner meaning.

‘‘The basic idea is to promote peace. But we also want to address other issues that concern humans,’’ says Arshed who describes herself as a ‘‘peace enthusiast’’. She has written and directed a number of plays in the US as well as a book, Bounty of Allah, while another book, The Sacred Secret, is awaiting publication. ‘‘I am planning to bring some of my plays to India in a few months. Also I am doing the screenplay for a Hollywood film,’’ she says adding that she can’t reveal anything about the film at this stage…
