Dutch Firm To Promote Pakistani Fresh Produce

Makro, a company owned by SHV Holdings of the Netherlands, has decided to invest in Pakistan in a business that would promote fresh produce and local products in the domestic and international markets. According to a press release on December 13, Makro is a high volume, no frills wholesaler of food and other items and is already present in five countries in Asia with more than 60 stores covering 600,000 square metres of net selling space providing direct employment to more than 7,500 people.

In Pakistan, the company would contribute to improving the quality, grading and processing of farm produce resulting in reduction of wastage. In addition, it would help create new jobs…
