Hunza Fort gets Unesco Award

The Unesco’s regional advisor for culture in Asia and the Pacific announced on Thursday the Baltit Fort of Karimabad in the Hunza region has been honoured with the Award of Excellence in the Unesco 2004 Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for culture heritage conservation.

The awards were announced in Bangkok on September 1. The Baltit Fort was praised for demonstrating that historic structures can be saved, restored and recovered for continued use in the community.
