Breaking the Pakistani Women’s Stereotype

Women in Pakistan are also journalists, filmmakers, lawyers, architects, entrepreneurs and activists who are making a determined effort to get their voices heard in the din of political talk. Perhaps they should have seen the group of women who crossed the border and came into the capital for just a holiday, leaving their husbands, children and work behind for a week of fun. Nothing else. They shopped, experimented with different kinds of food, travelled in autorickshaws, went to discos and faced slightly disbelieving looks when told they were from Pakistan. Fact is that there are many others like the group of women who don't wear burqas and only salwar kameez, but also jeans and trousers.
