Web-Based Mobile Phone Tracking System in Karachi

As the ban on trade of used mobile phone is being lifted from January 1, 2005 (tomorrow), the police and Karachi Electronic Dealers Association (KEDA) have devised a joint strategy to counter the menace of mobile phone snatching in the metropolis. Police and the KEDA would formally introduce a web-based computerised mobile phone tracking system from January 1 through which the subscribers of cellular phones (GSM) could register their IMEI numbers at a website (mtrack.mobilezone.org), where database of all new and used mobile phones will be maintained. The representatives said that people were registering themselves with the website even before its formal launching…
