Sindh University to introduce solar energy

The University of Sindh will introduce the solar energy system to provide electricity to its departments, teaching institutes, hostels and residential colony.

The project, to be prepared by the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), will first be implemented at the Marui Hostel and then extended step-by-step to the university’s other facilities. The university has been paying Rs3 to Rs3.5 million a month as power bills.

The meeting decided that in the first phase, a small project would be implemented in 3 to 4 months at the campus. The PCSIR member told the participants that the initial installation of the 5kv solar energy system would cost up to Rs3.5 million…
