Advancement in telecommunications is beating the rate of infrastructure development in the Tharparkar district where wireless phone and the Internet are vying with PTCL land and cellphone connections to capture a growing market and where people are increasingly getting eager to stay connected with the rest of the world. However, wireless phone has become the “mobile phone service” for the locals. Its expenses are only marginally higher than those of the PTCL land phone connection. The wireless phone’s biggest advantage is the mobility it provides to those travelling considerable distances.
