Muhammad Asim of Pakistan was nominated by Peregrine Fund and chosen by a Walt Disney World panel for one of the six global awards. The programme was created to support the efforts by local residents. In 2000, biologists were trying to determine the cause of a decline in vulture population in South Asia. After 9/11, tissue samples could not be shipped out of Pakistan… Asim found a way to ship the samples to the labs while they were still fresh.
