An art exhibit displaying contemporary miniature paintings from Pakistan will open tonight at 7:30 in the Bartlett Center with a lecture by an Oklahoma State University art history professor. The art form lost popularity in the mid 19th century, but the paintings are once again drawing attention in Pakistan and the Western Hemisphere. With at most 120 artists producing the miniature paintings worldwide, the art form is rare, Sirhandi said. ‘People will go away with a better understanding of who Pakistanis are because, after all, it’s not just a wild Islamic country,’ Sirhandi said.
