Multimillion Dollar Pakistani VoIP Contract Signed

Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that TeleCard Limited, a leading facilities based competitive operator in Pakistan, has signed a multi million dollar contract for a Voice over IP (VoIP) solution from Alcatel. TeleCard is committed to providing state-of-the-art wireline and wireless local loop (WLL) services throughout Pakistan. With its services extending to over eight hundred cities and towns throughout Pakistan, TeleCard is paving the way to becoming the nationwide alternative telecommunication service provider of choice.

The contract follows a Letter of Intent (LOI) that was issued to Alcatel earlier this year. Under the terms of the contract, TeleCard will deploy the Alcatel VoIP solution in at least 12 cities in Pakistan starting with Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad.
