Mercy Hospital Mount Airy has named Dr. Naveed Fazlani, an associate medical director, its 2004 Physician of the Year.

The award, announced last month, is decided by physicians, hospital staff and medical office staff. It recognizes physicians who demonstrate excellence and caring in direct patient care.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the physicians, nurses and staff at Mount Airy,” said Fazlani. “I consider it a privilege to be able to work with this team and to be able to make a positive difference in the lives of the community members.”

Fazlani, 40, is board certified in internal medicine and part of Midwest Medical Group. He practiced at Mercy Mount Airy since August 2001.

He received his medical degree from Dowd University in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1989 and completed his residency at the University of Cincinnati in 1996.

He taught internal medicine at UC from 1996-99.

He has a private practice in Mount Healthy and lives in Loveland.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Fazlani on the Mount Airy team,” said Dr. Rodney D. Reider, president/CEO of Mercy Hospital Mount Airy.
