Pakistani firm acquires US-based call center

The Resource Group, a call center company, has acquired Pennsylvania-based Telespectrum, which is expected to contribute $80 million to its annual revenue, a senior Resource Group executive said Tuesday.

“In a single transaction, Telespectrum contributed $80 million and 2000 people to our business,” Zia Chishti, the company’s chief executive told Dow Jones Newswires in an e-mail interview.

Telespectrum Inc., a privately held corporation, is a provider of consultative customer contact services. The Resource Group, or TRG, intends to exploit labor cost savings by shifting calls from its acquired call centers in the U.S. to its facilities in Lahore and Karachi.

Mr Chishti didn’t disclose the cost of the acquisition, which he said was in line with an agreement with the acquired company. He added that this move has cemented the company’s position as the largest IT-enabled services company in Pakistan. “We now have over $130 million in revenues and over 3000 people,” he said.
