Wireless Local Loop Service for Remote Areas from This Month

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is going to launch its Wireless Local Loop (WLL) service in the remote areas of the country this month.

PTCL Senior Executive Vice President, Sales and Human Resource, Shahzad Sadan, said this at an Iftar-cum-dinner hosted by PTCL, here on Wednesday. He said Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will inaugurate the WLL service from a small town near Kasur in Punjab, and the service will be launched in 10 small and far-flung towns soon.

The PTCL has planned its biggest expansion in the current financial year to meet growing demand and beat competition after deregulation of the fixed-line phone industry. The company plans to install two million more phone lines by June 2005, which is about 50 percent of the total phone subscribers that stand at 4.5 million across the country, he said.
