Pakistan and India are reportedly in talks to establish a dedicated optic fibre link between the two countries.

Pakistan’s IT and Telecom Minister Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari was quoted by the Daily Times as saying that Islamabad and New Delhi were in touch to initiate the project, and that certain issues were yet to be sorted out.

“Both the sides have shown concerns on security-related issues, but at our end, we are working internally at various levels to resolve these matters,” Leghari said.

Describing the fibre link as mutually beneficial to the two countries, he said it would make the telecom and IT industry infrastructure stronger and reliable.
