Major E-Government Plan Likely to Boost Pakistan Software Industry

The country’s software industry is set to taste a windfall as the federal government has decided to award projects of the e-government of around one billion rupees to local companies. The federal government launched the e-government programme in 2002, with an aggressive campaign to put all public service departments online, but plans almost failed to take off due to the absence of a comprehensive strategy and design. However, with the constitution of the National e-Government Council, authorities believe the programme will not take more than a month to be kick-started…
