Asghar Wins Indonesian Boxing Gold

Pakistani pugilists won a gold and medal in the 20th President Cup International Boxing Championship that concluded at Batam Island in Indonesia and was declared the best boxer of the tournament.

The celebrated Olympian boxer Asghar Ali Shah grabbed gold when he demolished G B Thamang of Indonesia by 23-8 in 64kg final. Asghar, who recently won bronze in the World Universities Games in Turkey, with hard-punching, good combination of rights and lefts and fine footwork outclassed his rival from the outset and dominated all the four rounds with quite ease.
