Pakistani Expatriates Remit $1.6 Billion in 5 months

Pakistan received an amount of $1609.76 million as workers’ remittances during the first five months of the current fiscal year from July to November 2004, as against $1488.08 million received in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, registering an increase of $121.68 million or 8.18 per cent. During last month, workers remitted an amount of $291.81 million as against $253.08 million remitted in November 2003 depicting an increase of $38.73 million or 15.30 per cent.

The monthly average remittances for the period July-November 2004 was $321.95 million as compared to $297.62 million during the same period of the last fiscal year depicting an increase of $24.33 million or 8.18 per cent…
