‘Labour City’ Planned for Gwadar

Over 2,000 residential units would be established for labourers, workers and fishermen in the proposed "Labour City" in the Gwadar district of Balochistan, and the federal government would grant Rs 3 billion for the project from the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF). This was stated at a meeting here on Monday held under the chairmanship of the provincial Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf. The meeting reviewed the pace of work on the projects that had been initiated in the province under the WWF.

The meeting was informed that the federal government had assured to provide Rs 3 billion under the WWF, while the Balochistan government would provide land free of cost. Regarding the Kidney Centre, Quetta, the meeting was informed that all medical equipment were being installed and the centre would formally begin its work from March 2005.
