Aisam Defeats Fitz to Win ITF Tennis Title in Lagos

Pakistan's top tennis star, Aisamul Haq maintaining his dream run won the ITF Futures Tennis Championship toppling second seed German Sebastian Fitz in a three set thriller, 2-6, 7-6 (7), 6-3 at the hard courts of National Tennis Centre here in Lagos, Nigeria Tuesday.

This is a historic and landmark victory for Aisam as he has now included the continent of Africa, too on his list of achievements. It may be recalled that he has already won 33 titles in international championships on the continents of Asia, Europe, North America and South America.

Aisam had reached the final of this highest level Championship of Africa after playing three setters in the semi final and the quarter final whereas his opponent, the strong and hard hitting German player had reached the final without dropping a single set without experiencing a threat from his respective opponents in the previous round matches…
