Norway firm chosen for Pakistani Voice Mail and Multimedia Messaging service

Telenor Pakistan and its network infrastructure provider Siemens Information and Communication Mobile have chosen Tecnomen to supply its Voice Mail System (VMS) and Multimedia Messaging Service Centre (MMSC). Delivery will take place this month.

The Pakistan market is ripe with potential. As of the end of March of this year, the total mobile phone subscriber base in Pakistan was at 3.8 million, which represents only 3 per cent of the 141 million population.

Telenor Pakistan is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telenor, headquartered in Oslo, Norway. Telenor acquired one of the new mobile licences in Pakistan in May of this year. They now have mobile operations in 12 countries and over 40 million subscribers. Telenor Pakistan has commissioned Siemens to build its GSM network in the southern part of the country. They will launch its cellular phone service in Pakistan April, 2005…
