Islamabad’s garbage gets a new home

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to make a new landfill keeping in view the rapid growth of the population in the federal capital and had allocated 100 acres of land for the purpose near Kurri Road, sources told Daily Times. Sources said that CDA officials had chalked out the plan in this regard which was likely to be approved by the executive committee of the National Economic Council next month. The project would be completed in one year and would cost Rs 1 billion, sources said. The Environment Ministry and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) would assist the CDA in the project and officials of these departments had discussed their modalities and responsibilities, sources added.
